Northumberland Tourism

New Initiatives and Projects

Our goal is to promote Northumberland County and increase tourism spending.  We do this in partnership  and collaboration with our tourism industry partners, agency partners and other levels of government.

Here are some of the key projects:

Visitor Segmentation Study

From June to the end of October 2015, local tourism businesses are collecting postal codes from their visitors.  With this information,  Kawarthas Northumberland partners, RTO8 and Northumberland County will be able to gain a better understanding of visitors to our region; evaluate the opportunities in markets across Ontario; and identify the best way to connect with potential visitors i.e. what media channels or messages are visitors most interested in or are the most effective.  Ultimately, this will drive Kawarthas Northumberland's strategic marketing direction for 2016 and 2017, with the goal of increasing tourism businesses for Northumberland and Peterborough Counties and City of Kawartha Lakes.  Find out more information on the visitor segmentation study or contact us.

Experiential Tourism Development

Over the next few months we will be working with interested operators from the visual arts, performing arts and fishing/angling segments to develop enhanced travel experiences.  Our goal is to differentiate our experiences and destination not only by geography but also with emotional appeal by layering on activities, then programs and people as a means to connect and engage.  These experiential tourism development sessions are a collaborative initiative with the partners of Kawarthas Northumberland and Regional Tourism Organization 8.

Northumberland Promotional Video

A short 3-minute video which showcases Northumberland as a diverse and exciting destination will now be available to our partners and tourism ambassadors who wish to use this for their meetings, conferences, group tours, associations, etc... to help attract more visitors to Northumberland.

Travel Media Association of Canada (TMAC) 2015 AGM

TMAC's announcement that their AGM will be hosted in Peterborough in June 2015 will offer a tremendous opportunity for our Kawarthas Northumberland partners to showcase our tourism region to 250 anticipated media delegates. Northumberland Tourism will be working with Peterborough and the Kawarthas Tourism to host 2 Northumberland post tours for travel media delegates.

Outdoor Adventure Map Guide

This very popular brochure will be redesign to incorporate our new brand and will include our top outdoor experiences.  It will be released at the Toronto Outdoor Adventure Show February 20-22, 2015.

 Trans Canada Trail

The Northumberland-Kawartha section of Canada`s largest trail is currently being sign along the route.  This section of the national trail is featured on Kawarthas Northumberland website.   With its interactive map detailing the trail, local attractions and points of interests,  this website provides visitors with a visual guide with photos featuring highlights along the Trans Canada Trail in Trent Hills.
